New Monthly 5 Book Review

"The Mortal Instruments" by Cassandra Clare

I've read all 6 novels in this series by Cassandra Clare and like Ransom Riggs' books, I couldn't choose just one to mention.

I love the whole world that Cassandra has created, the idea of the Nephilim isn't so far fetched that they couldn't possibly exist, they could be a reality for all any of us know. The jury is still out on the existance of Vampires, Werewolves and Warlocks, but I say anything is possible.

I like the flow of these books, the fact the storyline moves almost seamlessly from one book to the next, moving on all the time and not seeming to become stuck in one place. There's enough action to keep you interested.

I admit, there was more than one occasion when I (in my head) told the lead character to get a grip or to stop acting a brat, but that adds to the interest of the story and shows how engrossed you can get.

That's the beauty of these books, you want to know what happens next, you want to get to know the characters.

I also chose to read the prequel series Cassandra wrote, "The Infernal Devices" and enjoyed those just as much.

I recommend these books for those looking for a little escape from the norm. A 4 book rating from me, I really like them.
