Hey everyone, for my next review, I've chosen "With This Man" by Jodi Ellen Malpas.
This is the
next book in the 'This Man' series, that I reviewed before and was only released this year.
The best book of the series. The story picks up around 12 years after the
end of the last one, with Ava and Jesse's twins now 11 years old. Jesse is still his usual controlling self, but life appears to have been good to him and Ava and things are going well, until a car accident sees Ava losing her memory of everything that has
happened for the last 16 years - all of the time she has spent with Jesse is gone!
I actually enjoyed this book, seeing a different side to Jesse other than his commanding,
controlling ways that made me want to reach into the book and slap him! You see a much more vulnerable side to Jesse and how he interacts with amnesiac Ava following the accident, how he does little things to try and help her to remember is really sweet. You
feel his frustration that Ava is struggling to remember, but at the same time, you really feel for them both and can understand how Ava fell in love with Jesse in the first place, as she falls for him all over again.
There are still some comedy moments, such as Jesse telling Ava to watch her mouth when she swears, but taking no notice of his own advice when he swears at her!
Overall, this book is a good read and I give it a 4 book score, I will definitely read it again.
