Hi everyone! Welcome to the first of 2 reviews being posted this month - I'm finally catching up on my reading (feel like i've been falling behind).
So, lets get started. The first book i want to talk to you about is "The Seven Deaths Of Evelyn Hardcastle" by Stuart Turton. I advise that there may be spoilers if you haven't already read the book.
This is Mr Turton's debut novel and i admit, I really enjoyed it. The book itself, to me, was a little hard going at first to get into as you're dropped straight into the action without
any real explanation as to how you get there and so in the beginning it seems a little bewildering. my advice - stick with it.
The book gets better and better the further
into it you get, like Mr Turton has found his stride and is running along nicely. I'll be honest, this would not have ben my first choice of book to read, however, the blurb sounded great and I love the idea of the story. I had a shock when I saw the name
of the house though; 'Blackheath'. I once used this myself in a draft of ghost story. Sadly the draft no longer exists as my old laptop that it was written on was stolen in 2010.
I digress. I loved the idea of this book, the constant change of character is a little trippy at first, at least until you understand what is meant to be happening in the book - I'm sad to say that this realisation doesn't really happen until you're maybe
5 or 6 chapters into the book, but like I said, stick with it. The more character swaps you see, the more the story knits together and the truth starts to come out.
Overall, I enjoyed
the book and would give it a 3 book score. The book is a good read once you get into it and I did enjoy it.
Enjoy! and as always, Keep Reading!
